Greetings and salutations, my fellow geeks and geekettes! Sunrise and Bandai are back with an all new Gundam anime, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury or simply shortened to G-Witch.

A teaser trailer was just released by Bandai Namco’s Gundam Conference this past Tuesday. Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercuty (Kidō Senshi Gundam: Suisei no Majo) is the first new anime (not including the Build Fighters series) since Iron Blooded Orphans left the air almost seven years ago, another to take note is that the series will feature the a female lead piloting the the titular Gundam. While a female co-protagonist has been in Gundam before, the new shake is certainly a welcomed one and hopefully it will be handled well.

Now, back to the trailer, they’ve revealed the new Gundam suit for the series, and given a famine sounding name, Ariel. Personally, I think it’s good choice. As in Iron Blooded Orphans, the Gundam suits were named after archdukes of Hell, but in G-Witch’s case this is more of a biblical sense as Ariel when translated into Hebrew is “Lion of God.”

While the plot and premise of G-Witch is still unclear, fans of Mobile Suit Gundam should be more than aware at this point of Gundam’s anit-war massage. Additionally, there has yet to be any news of whether this series is set in an alternate timeline or in the far-far future of Universal Century era. Another yet to be determined is series episode count, too. All these lingering questions will hopefully be resolved once we near the premiere this fall.

To sate the appetites’ of eager Gundam fans like myself, Bandai has promised a prologue episode simply titled Prologue. The episode will debut this summer at the Gundam Factory in Yokohama, as well as at Gundam Bases across Japan and China.

Now to end this post on cheery note, as with every new Gundam anime, there’s gotta be new Gunpla to promote the anime. This time around we got 3 upcoming kits courtesy of Bandai Hobby, the HG 1/144 Gundam Ariel, HG 1/144 Gundam Lfrith, and the HG1/144 Beguil Beu.
