… And we are back! Greetings and salutations, my comic comrades! Joel here, I want you guys to know something about me, I am a big comic book nerd, whether it be Image, Dark Horse, IDW, or the big two; Marvel and DC. And yes, why is an anime store blog talking about comics? Shouldn’t you be discussing about anime and manga? Yeah, I should be, but I’m not gonna (at least for this).

So before I go off topic, I just finished a weekend night shift at the store, and stayed up all nigh afterwards to watch this year’s live stream of DC Fandome. I gotta say, some the reveals really got me hyped DC’s upcoming offerings for next, especially their movie announcements.

If you are new to the world comics, and have no clue as to what is DC FanDome, well I’ve got ya covered. DC Fandome is a DC’s free, global virtual fan event (since many of us are still affected by Covid, are not as fortunate to attend ComicCon) featuring a live webcast and activities where they showcase new and upcoming movies, tv shows, comics and more…

So, if you’ve got 3 to 4 hours to kill, then I say, go watch that stream on Warner Bros. YouTube channel or down below. If not, then here are some of my picks that got me excited for DC in 2022 & 2023.

Shazam: Fury of the Gods

A behind-the-scenes look at the Shazam sequel revealing Halen Mirren and Lucy  Lui villainous gods, the daughters of Atlas, Haspera and Kalypso. Also, a look at Rachel Zegler’s new character, Greek monsters and bigger set-piece action coming in June of 2023.

Black Adam

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s passion project that has been in the making since the beginning of the DCEU, and now we finally get to see the rest of the cast, like Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate! Next, the Rock himself showsoff some the early moments in the film where he electrocutes a man to dust (it’s AWESOME!)

Peacemaker

A spinoff show from James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker sees John Cena return as his homicidal, patriotic hero which he loves so much. In this teaser for the show, Peacemaker teams with the Vigilante, fights in his tighty whities, and get a hug from a bald eagle. Hitting HBO Max next January.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

Jason Mamoa and director James Wan are back to share a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming sequel, including Aquaman’s new suit, Black Manta, Queen Mera, the Ocean Master, and concept art of new locations and creatures.

The Flash

Yes! Finally, after multiple delays and director changes, I wasn’t sure if this movie was ever gonna get of the ground. In this teaser, we see Ezra Millers’ Flash and multiple versions of him from the Multiverse. Also, the debut of Sasha Calle’s Supergirl. But most of all, the return of Michael Keaton’s Batman!

Harley Quinn

After 2 successful seasons, she’s back! The hit adult animated show gets an early look at Season 3, including glimpses at Harley and Ivy’s blossoming relationship.

The Batman

So yeah… I’ve placed The Batman at the bottom of my list cause, it’s another Batman movie, and we’ve seen so many over the years. Please, don’t get me wrong, I’m still hyped for this… just not so much

This gritty new trailer shows new looks at Catwoman, Penguin, the Riddler, Alfred and Robert Pattinson’s Batman beating up plenty of thugs and taking lots of bullets.

So, my comic comrades, these are just some of the things that got me excited during this year’s DC FanDome, and there’s still a lot more I didn’t mention as there were just too many like the Gotham Knights game, the 2nd season of Superman & Lois, the Sandman series. I’ve mention earlier, if you’ve got time to spare go checkout the stream for yourself.
