Greetings and salutations, dear reader. Another year has passed and we’ve somehow (for the most part) managed to survive it, and we here at Hobility hope you all had an amazing winter break. Well, it’s the new year, and its time for renewal and change.
Now on the topic of new beginnings, the long running Pokemon will be making its most drastic change yet as series protagonist’s, Ash Ketchum’s journey is coming to an end. Fret not dear year as the anime will continue on with a new cast of characters. This soft-reboot will be based on the latest Pokemon game: Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
While Ash’s and Pikachu’s journey may be coming to an end, two new protagonist’s will take their place. As of now, only the names have been made known; which are Liko and Roy respectively. And judging from the short teaser we see in the trailer, our female protagonist will be partnered up with the cat-like Pokemon, Sprigatito. As for our male protagonist will have two starters, Fuecoco and Quaxly, if the teaser is to be believed.
Now, do take this with a pinch of salt, there’s rumors floating around the internet that the female protagonist might be Ash’s and Serena’s daughter. What sparked this rumor is the hair pin she wears is similar to the logo on Ash’s cap from earlier seasons, as well as the same colored eyes as Serena’s. Again, this is purely speculation.
After 25 years since Ash’s journey started, the small boy from Pallet Town, with his trusty partner Pikachu, have become World Champions in the recent episode of Pokemon Ultimate Journey that aired in Japan last November. Now that Ash is the top Pokemon trainer, the Pokemon Company made an announcement that the “final” chapter in the dynamic duo’s story will begin airing on the 13th of January, with a total of 11 episodes- giving a proper send off since the anime first aired in 1997.
These upcoming episodes not only celebrate Ash’s and Pikachu’s achievements, but also act as an expression of gratitude from Pokemon to all the fans who have joined the duo’s adventures along the way. Also, in a recent statement, the episodes will provide a glimpse at what the future might hold for the world’s strongest trainer in the final chapter for Ash and Pikachu.
When news first broke out, Ash’s voice actress Sarah Natochenny took to Twitter to express her thoughts on the matter. Sarah Natochenny is the person to voice Ash, taking over the duties from voice actress Veronica Taylor who had helm the role for 8-seasons.
While the upcoming final chapter episodes are just a week away (as of writing) and will air first Japan before being broadcast internationally. The Pokemon Company has yet to announced when the English version of these episodes will air. For those living outside of Japan, Pokemon Ultimate Journeys are available for streaming on Netflix.
