Now, with that brief history lesson out of way, as the title of this post suggest, Gundam has partnered up with the multinational shoe corporation, Nike. Yes, that Nike, the same company responsible for Air Jordans collaborating to give us the Unicorn Gundam and Banshee colorways for their SB Dunk High shoes.

Celebrating the 15th-anniversary of the Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn series, the white-toned take is inspired by protagonist Banagher Links’ RX-0 Unicorn Gundam in Destroy Mode. The premium white leather upper of the shoe is accented by panels of black with bright red piping elements. Additional detailing elements on the shoe come in the form of interchangeable Swooshes inspired by the horn on the head of the Unicorn Gundam, tongue tags, and printed insoles. Rounding up the design of the shoe are white midsoles complete with red contrast stitching paired with black rubber outsoles and a sheet of decals that mimic the customizing elements included with Gunpla model kits.

The “Banshee” model,  mimics the aesthetics of the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee originally piloted by Marida Crus and later assigned to Riddhe Marcenas in the novel.

The collaborative sneakers are dressed in premium black leathers with obsidian overlays, metallic orange piping and rose gold eye stay highlights near the tongue tab. Unique design elements include an interchangeable velcro swoosh in a jagged effect referencing the horns found on the mobile suits, distinct perforations and accent lines on the toe box and collars mimicking exhaust vents and contours, and a red “RX 0 DUNK HIGH” insignia on the heel counter. Below, black midsoles with orange contrast stitching are elevated by black outsoles with a metallic orange panel on the mid-foot bottoms. A sheet of co-branded decals is included to complete the offering.

The unicorn Gundam colorway will be released September 24th, and 27th in some region for $110 USD while the Banshee colorway’s release is yet to be determined.

On Bandai’s side, they will be releasing limited edition versions 0f the HG Uniorn and Banshee kits as well. The kits will be sold via Gundam Base Tokyo, Fukuoka, and Premium Bandai Gundam Base online store in a lottery sale method, meaning all those who are interested in getting one will be drawn randomly for a chance to buy one, priced at ¥2,420 JPY (approximately $22 USD).

Each kit is provided with limited edition sticker decal seals that commemorates the partnership as well as a luxurious Nike SB special shoe box inspired with limited artwork for both models!

Lastly, are these 2 mini-figures of the Unicorn and Banshee wearing miniaturize versions the SB Dunks.

Both figures measuring 20cm high will come with matching keychains and follow suit of the two “Project Unicorn” colorways in white and “Thunder Blue.” The mini versions follow the original figurine to a tee, but feature weaponry and armor along with sporting the Nike SB branding and new Nike SB Dunk High silhouettes.
